    Bilsteins(too stiff?) vs. Konis(too expensive?)

I was told by my mechanic that the Bilsteins are too stiff for a car as light as the e30, and that Konis would be a better choice. He couldn't stress this enough, and I trust him, but I see plenty of members on this forum use the Bilsteins.

I found an H&R race / Bilstein combo for $670, while the Konis alone would cost only $100 less(and I'd still get the H&R race).

So, does anyone have experience with both? Would you say it's worth it to save up for the Konis? Will the main advantage come in ride comfort or handling?

    Thanks in advance.

If you buy the correct parts for your car, then the Bilsteins will be valved properly. If they were just some randomly valved bilsteins, then you would have problem. Oh, and I love my Koni's.

use the bilstein sport/H&R race combo. you will love it.

i also love my Konis, but if yer not into fine tuning your suspension yourself, just stick with the bilsteins.

H&R Race springs and short, stiff, and will result in a pretty harsh ride. Bilsteins will aggravate that as compared to the Konis's. If performance is the goal, I'd tend to favor the Bilsteins with those springs.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
