    H+R Race Spring HELP!!

    Gents,

    I recently installed a set of H+R race springs that I purchased from Turner Motorsports. I did extensive work to the car in the suspension area. I had the car alligned professionaly and had no rear camber issues at all. The tech did tell me that the susspension would "settle" and I might need to check again later.

    I am running Ronal LS wheels with 225/50/15 Toyo tires and the rears seemed to settle into the fender a little. I noticed some squeek in the rear and looked to find a chunk out of my passenger side rear tire where it hit the fender. THe only thing that seems to be weird is that the H+R race spring is almost completely compressed at load. The 3 inner coils are touching each other. Does this seem right????

    Did I get a bad spring???? I haven't checked the Driver side yet because the exhaust is in the way and I haven't had time to get the car on the lift.

    Any help is much appreciated....

    FYI I also have BRAND NEW Billy Sports and SST Sways...with Turner reinforcements.

    Those 3 coils will sit on each other. You are fine.

      You obviously need to roll your fenders with that wheel/tire set up though

          Anyone know a good place in Northern Virginia to get my fenders rolled???

            I'm not from there but if you wouldn't mind the technique, a baseball bat works wonders.

            Whether you get it done professionally or do it yourself, your paint going to crack so you will either need to get body work done to smooth the cracked paint or simply use touch up paint if you don't really care.

              Look on EBAY as there are some people renting the eastwood fender rollers. You have to pay a deposit up front that covers the cost of the roller, but anyone is going to charge that in case they do not get their roller back, but then it cost something like $60 including shipping to you for like 10 days of use. Not a bad deal IMHO. You get your refund back when they have received the roller back in their hands in good working condition.

              Do a search for eastwood fender roller and there should be some rentals that come up.

                Omfg!

                I just got off of the phone with H&R. I have the same issue....my drivers side rear is almost fully compressed while the other side has 1/2"- 3/4" space between the coils.

                My 88 is clearly lower on the drivers rear. Did 1 track event, cought a little air a few times on a mountain road. That's it....

                They told me I would have to order 1 spring through tire rack and send the bad one back for a refund.


                The tech (John?) I spoke to told me that they fully compress each spring multiple times prior to leaving the factory in Germany. ....ok, so when I partially compress it a few months later they collapse.

                    You use a heat gun to soften up the paint prior to rolling them. No cracking that way! :up:

                      Anyone with this issue have their alignment checked? I'm just thinking that the issue might be a slightly bent trailing arm or rear subframe.

                        I had a professional alignment done after the suspension was completed. No problems with alignment at all.

                        I sent a picture of the spring to Turner Motorsport today and they agree that it does not look right. They had a bunch of questions for me which, I responded to so hopefully I will hear from them soon...
