Do you have softball down under?

The pictures at the start of the thread are actual pictures of the parts that erik325, the original poster said he had on his cars. I intentionally ignored different camber plates, in order to be 100% truthful.

Well actually you are wrong, and I'm sorry, because you are so nice about it. The reason for that measurement is to show TRUE suspension travel available over bumps etc. The dimensions shown are indicating the limits of travel, which has nothing to do with where the spring does or does not seat.

The whole concept of "stack height" is a red herring (do you have that phrase in Aus?) to draw attention away from the lack of suspension travel. Every one of these camber plates is for an adjustable ride height suspension, so "stack height" as measured to where the spring touches has nothing to do with anything.

Click here for definition of "red herring".

I should take lessons from you. That is a good attitude, which I appreciate.

This (below) is exactly what I wrote. I honestly don't see very much asshole about it, I am simply telling the truth to someone who made a post that was not the truth. It is hard to make it sound nice.

If you take the plates off of your cars, you will get the exact same pictures as me

I wish you would have looked closer beforehand.

So thanks to everyone else too for reading a thread about my having to deal with crap. I feel real bad about it honestly, but to ignore the misinformation would be an insult to everybody who works hard at Ground Control.

The pictures in this thread are intended to address the specific claims, now COMPLETELY debunked, of the original post. Your camber plates may look different, but his don't. I am trying to be 100% honest here.

I strongly disagree, and I am very surprised that you would say that in light of the pictures that I posted. Please post pictures of what you are saying.

You are incorrect. The pictures of these camber plates at the start of this thread are the EXACT ones that Erik has. That is apples to apples. I intentionally did not taint the discussion by showing our newest camber plates (that are even shorter still).

That would have been apples to oranges, but I didn't and wouldn't do that.

I would be very interested if you could prove me wrong, because there is so much misinformation being redistributed, that it is really starting to look intentional to a lot of people, including myself.

So to me id say there is really nothing in it like 2-5mm from the spring perch..

I just purchased a set of the Vorshlag camber plates. I Choose them because i liked the design and generally good feedback of the product. It wasnt really an easy choice too...

In saying that I love GC too and what they have offered us E30 lovers for sometime now..

Yes, the brackets will allow you to loosen the adjusting nuts without reaching under the fender:D

So does this means that I dont have to reach under the car with GC plates? If I have the free brackets retrofitted. Everything can be done trackside and is easily accessible after 2004 right? Did I understand this correctly?

They get a bad rep by not replying to e-mails unless you have purchased something from them. Also, when you finally talk to someone on the phone they tell you that you need to guaranty that you will buy something before they will help you determine what you need. It's been a few years since this happened and I hope things have changed but because of that one conversation they have lost close to $2600 worth of my business. May not be much to a company like Ground Control but I have always said I would rather have 2% of something rather than 100% of nothing.

a simple post with the facts would have been fine, whether you meant it too or not your post came off as a bit of a personal attack on him. He even apologized to you and rather than accept his apology you cut him down again. Not a good way to deal with people imo.

edit: to business, i have a question. In your pictures you have the deck height measured using GC plates and GC upper perches, as well as Vorsh plates and upper perches right? are your perches compatible with their plates? if so what is that deck height?

I don't think that was a personal attack really.

    More correcting mis-information.

Jay - I don't know if you want to answer this in this thread, but I know you guys sold a pair of camber plates & modified strut housings to a guy with an ix. I was curious how you came about the design of the plates for the ix - since the ix bearing is inverted (above the strut tower) compared to a regular E30. It didn't look like he had very much suspension travel, but his was quite a bit lower, and he also had shortened housings (with custom inserts??). Suspension travel seems to be a big limiting factor on a track/autox ix, I only have maybe 2" and I'd like at least another inch. :(

I also don't get the horror stories about GC, maybe it was just during an especially busy part of the season. However, I also like "the other guy" and have had good service from them. The E30 "world" being what it is, it's great that we have as many choices as we do for stuff like this. so let's let the facts speak for themselves and keep vendor bashing to a minimum. :)
