    Wanted DIY suspension rebuild/anatomy thread

It says that if you have a suggestion for a thread for the DIY section, to post the request in the section specific to the request. Well it goes:

I searched the DIY section high and low, but I cant find a really all encompasing thread about how to rebuild suspension, part numbers for bushings, anatomy of the whole mess, etc. I know its a tall task, but I think its something that needs to be compiled, but something I know relatively little about. I think Ill probably need to complete a susp'n rebuild sometime before the winter.

If someone can shed some light, Id appreciate it.

it's actually pretty straight forward. it's defintely something you can do with your car on stands. I'm not familiar with the rear though. count the visible threads on the tie rod end and install back to that measure. You will need a tool for the springs though, if you plan on doing struts. Go get an alignment within the next few days..

i know ur supposed to get an alignment, but is it really necessary? b/c the only thing that's adjustable is front toe. it's more like ur getting an alignment to see the specs.

If you think you can get the toe nearly perfect, then go for it. I'd rather pay the $80 or whatever to have it precision measured.

And as far as the DIY, buy a Bentley manual. It's all there. If you need part numblers, look on realoem.com.

Oh, and there are a couple write ups here:

I dug around on Pelicanparts.com and found good articles for e30's pertaining to susp'n rebuilds.

thanks for all the help in here too. keep the suggestions coming.
