    e36 rack + e30 tie rods = which lock tab ?

Quick question. I'm ordering tie rods tonight (for the 3rd time, long story). I'm getting e30 tie rods because they're cheaper.

However, I'm not sure if I should get e30 or e36 lock plates.

    e36 lock tab ($6.50 each):

    e30 lock tab ($.75 each):

I don't have the rack in front of me right now so I'm having a hard time visualizing it. Thanks.

E30 locking tabs will work just fine.

I used the e36 ones, just because there is no interaction between the plate and the tierod other than acting as a spacer. The plate actually locks into the rack, and since it is an e3 rack, I figured e36 plates were the way to go.

I never tried it with e30 plates, so that may work as well.

Well, I ordered e30 tabs, saving me $12. Who knows though, maybe the e36 ones will be good enough to re-use once they're removed.

So I guess the answer is you can use either.

        Thanks everybody.
