I thought I read a post that someone carries rear adjustables that are adjustable from the top like the fronts, is this true or was I just dreaming...
Whose got the best deal on Konis?

Koni rear
Koni rear top adjust. The prices on these went up in September, so be careful if you are internet price shopping. A lot of people just cut and paste catalogs and haven't done the new prices yet.
For a Mustang, the lowest price any authorized dealer can sell for is 134.06 each.
Because Ground Control is both an authorized Koni dealer and an R3V sponsor, I will include shipping AND I will include actual shock dyno sheets to help you dial the car in. Also, the warranty will be legit.
I do not know if this is the cheapest deal, but I have tried to make it as attractive as possible within the bounds of my agreement with Koni.
Jay
PS. GC has the Konis on the shelf, ready for shipment. The fronts are now $193.80.Here is my photo gallery answering common questions about Ground Control Suspension, and e30 suspension problems in general.

When I say 50% I am not talking about spring rates or anything like that. The Mustang has a solid axle that is very heavy, and the valving is designed to work around that. (remember the shock valves work when the suspension moves up exactly as when the car moves down, so thats what I am referring to.). The valving is different for a heavier unsprung weight.
The e30 has a rear suspension that is 10 billion times more sophisticated than a Mustang, so the shocks for solid axle don't work as well as shocks designed for independant, however it usually more desirable than pulling the shock to adjust it. (But if you are REALLY into it, the e30 M3 arguably has better valving but you cant adjust it from the trunk.)
By the way, any of the Koni top adjust rear shocks including the GC ones that are actually designed for the e30 rear suspension have a 12mm top pin (instead of 10mm) to retain strength. This requires drilling that is not fun or new aftermarket upper shock mounts. Although e30, e36 and e46 rear shock mounts from BMW are interchangeable, all of them are for 10mm.
Hope this helps.

If the difference isn't great, maybe. But purpose is just DE-ing... maybe eventually TT, and slamming the ride isn't necessarily important, so I may have the my M3-type tabs welded on and call it a day. (But the GC adjustable sway bar links would be a good fit though, right?)Comment

This is a quick reply, just to clarify, and to make sure that this thread does not turn into another fountain of wrong.

Because I have some that show the Koni for a Mustang and "special E30" almost exactly the same.
The GC e30 shocks are designed completely different than what Koni designed for the Mustang, they have different Koni internal parts, valves and codes, and virtually not a single part in common with the Mustang shocks.
Originally posted by DSP74I'd even be willing to bet that the difference is in gas PSI so as to save Koni the work and everyone selling "special shocks" the costs.
Besides that, it wouldn't save any money, and gas pressure is an incredibly small factor anyway.
Originally posted by DSP74A mustang has a solid rear axle and more unsprung weight. The compression damping is stiffer for the Mustang.
Originally posted by DSP74Everything else the same.
This post is not an invitation to an argument. I have posted truthful replies and corrections, in order to slow the spread of e30 misinformation, for the benefit of R3V.

What's the pricing of those trick short Konis for the front? I have a dead Koni and need to replace the pair pre-season and weighing options. (And unfortunately don't have the receipts and all)

The Koni short struts that I designed for the e30 we sell for $183.00.
Triple check the dead Koni. The last FOUR warranty requests I had were Vise Grip victims. So triple triple check that it is really dead.

Yea, the shaft fell like a rock if I let go while trying to re-install my GC's/plates. And yea, the shaft is abused - at least after the nut was seized inside the stock upper strut mount and conventional technique wouldn't work (and warranty was already out of the picture).
The insert also wouldn't come out when I tried to swap housings previously, so I'm figuring just nab housings and inserts and get it all together.
But it might make sense to have GC modify housings and add the tab and install short inserts and have them arrive ready to go (under my springs and plates) vs. buying OTS variety and having the local shop weld on tabs... but shipping may be $$$.Last edited by rwh11385; 01-06-2009, 07:34 PM.Comment
