removing front strut assembly

I've seen many a post about this, but I had my suspension on my ix before I ever started working on my own car.

I'm parting an mtech cabby and I am on a mission to remove the front billy sports. I've got the nut off where the control arm meets the strut assembly, but how do I get the two to seperate? I do not have a puller.

got air tools? Air hammer to the side of the strut mount next to where the ball joint goes through.

If not, then get out the BFH and start beating on that control arm. Hit the ball joint with some Freeze-Off or PB first, that might help.

I've got air tools, but no air hammer. I'll give it a shot.
