I just got done installing a used (7kish?) Sport Cup Kit. So far, I am very pleased with the kit. It is what I wanted: A good drop, with a decent ride, not caring much about the performance gain overall. Car is a beater, daily driver that I picked up for $150. Been doing what is necessary, and a few things that aren't, but make the car more enjoyable as a DD.
Back to the Kit. I was actually surprised by how it rode. Stiffer then I had been led to believe. Everyone on the various forums had me thinking it was going to ride real soft. Not the case. It is compliant. Which is what I wanted. However, it is still stiff enough to skip CDs on sharp impacts. ;) And that is on stock bottlecaps, with 65 series winter tires. And, as the bump stops have been cut down to about an inch, its not from hitting them. In fact, I have yet to hit the bumpstops. The car does still have a fair amount of body roll. But that is to be expected without high spring rates, and only a cab bar.
Comparison wise:
Blown, stock suspension: Obviously rides stiffer, lol. Much more controlled. Once again, a "duh".
Good stock suspension: Once again, stiffer and more controlled.
Vogtland (I think) springs and Billys: Still stiffer and slightly more controlled. Maaaybe more body roll.
AST 4100 coilovers: Actually, doesn't ride as nice. Even with the MUCH higher spring rates (700 front, 950 rear), the ASTs ride beautifully and control the car perfectly. What a stock performance car should ride like. However, you will spend over twice the amount of the Cup Kit for those.
So, I will break it down for those looking at different kits, wondering if this kit is for them. Big drop, rides compliant, still has body roll. Not a great performance kit, but with big sways, could be made to work. Maybe. More of an appearance kit, that leans slightly toward a more sporting nature.
Personally, I love the drop, and the stance. Exactly what I was going for. Some people will hate it, and that is kinda the idea, but the car is going for that rat-rodish look. So, the car needed to be weeded. Now, I just need to get the steelies and summer tires. :p
Here are the before, during, and after pics.
Before, on stock suspension.

During, no suspension.
The drop.

Install went well, if not long, due to me forgetting to order little things like tierod washers. LOL. Thanks to GotCone? for the help!
