    Aluminum M3 control arms issue

    I have aluminum m3 control arms on my car. Driver side inner balljoint recently started making disgusting cracking sound. Annoys the crap out of me.


    Big Question: since they are so freaking expensive to buy again, can I press in balljoint? If not, I'll end up buying a pair of steelies.

    best modification to any car is a clean car.

                I've heard you can press in new ones art but I've just done it on the steel ones.

                  Last I checked, WorldPac only had the balljoints for the steel control arms. I couldn't find any that would fit aluminum ones. It was a couple years ago though...

                    maybe I stand corrected then. thats where I got them for my steelies so like a dumbass I assumed they would have them for the aluminum's too...

                      Officially there are no replacement joints for aluminium arm, just because the can't be replaced.

                      The joint for steel arm works just fine.

                      Also there are no replacement joint for e36 m3 arms(steel), but again e30 part will work fine.

                      As said earlier, you do this at your own risk, BMW does not sell parts and will tell you its not possible.

                      Using damaged components on car will risk your life.
                      Current:

                            i'ma give it a try. i have a 95M CA (w. fucked up ball joints) and a e30 inner ball joint just laying around. any special tips?

                              I was talking about outer joints, no idea if e30 inners will work...

                              Apply some force in hydraulic press and wait for few minutes, pump some more force and wait on, repeat untill the joint comes off with a bang.

                              Insert new joint in same as the old was postion(it's marked with 2 slots) and start pressing it in. If the new joint is not going in straight start over.
