What's involved exactly? Just curious.

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say they take apart the strut and there are two or more valves and they change those valves depending on what the customer would like. Now those valves just like AAN fitting's come in different holes sizes depending on how much rebound you want or other comfort criteria.
Now to talk about shocks do bilstein and koni use the same type of oil in the shocks?Comment

You change the shims, the tension on the shims, the slots in the pistons (sometimes holes) and basically anything you can think of to make the car go faster.

Does the weight of the shock oil have anything to do with it? If I remember right I think old 510 guys would switch out the oil with heavier (or lighter) oil, I think motorcycle fork oil, to slightly change the damping. The grilles really distract you from the fact that someone took a sledgehammer to the front end.Comment

Oil viscosity can have a huge effect on damper performance.
Pour water into a funnel...comes right out the other end.
Pour honey into the same funnel......and wait...and wait...and wait.
An extreme but simple example:p
The thing about changing oil weights is it will affect both the compression and rebound of the damper.Comment
