hmm H&R on the vert... not low enough

bought a set of H&R sports from a member here (great seller, btw. thanks!)

and now that they're on (1992 318iC w/15" euroweaves), my wheel arch gap is pretty f'ing lame...

im thinking these are for a 325iC (different spring rate/height?)

im not too concerned with stiffness. my coupe has GC coilovers, so i'm all set in the spine breaking dept.

but i do wanna go lower...

    eibach pro-kit?

    something?

    anything?

    part numbers, etc?

    thanks!

      i'll take some tomorrow...

ive had to wash this thing 3 times so far, from the damn shipping cross country... it looked like they stopped to hose it down with mud every 30 miles.

The 325i springs will make your car sit higher since the M42 weighs much less than the m20. Maybe look in to drop hats? Eibach ProKit springs will lower it more, but are no stiffer than stock springs so there is less of an improvement in handling vs the H&R

            thanks!

i'm really not extremely concerned with bettering the handling too much. i dont want it to sound like a coffee can full of pennies, so soft springs wouldnt be too bad, i think.

i just need the front to come down another 1.5-2"

i'll cut them bitches if need be!

getting another 1.5-2" is going to be a stretch. id switch to either hr races or another ground control set up just with different springs (lower spring rate) for the ride.

I'd say Eibachs are your best choice then. H&R Race are very stiff, and GC are very expensive. If you're not looking for a handling improvement and are mostly concerned with looks, you'd be throwing money down the toilet with either of those.

                  yeah, i think so...

i have the GC coil over setup on my coupe, and while i love it, it kinda sucks for a daily driver. (i suppose the 17s with 40s dont help)

my wife and kids will be with me half the time i'm driving the vert, so i really need to consider the ride quality.

anyone wanna swap me some eibach pro-kit springs for my H&R?

ok.. so ive spent the last half hour looking for eibachs for a 318iC.

no luck. im finding ones for 318i/iS, and for 325i/iS and 325iC.

                    nothing for 318 vert.

anyone have a part number and/or a source?

                    thanks!!!

if you put a softer spring on the ground control set up on your vert, wont that solve your problems? ride adjustability, and comfort factor. maybe the same rates as h&r sports? 180/380 pro kit is 102/277 which might work also, obviously softer.

OT: ive driven a new 335 and the 335 rides more harsh that my eta does with h&r sports and bils sports... food for thought.

thanks, but im not looking to put 2 grand into the springs. i really want to try and keep this project in check, so a set of springs is abut as far as i want to go at this point. i just did the billy sports, with h&r cab sport springs. kinda bummed that its not what im after...

the ride is nice, but it HAS TO come down, at least an inch. :hitler:

im about to gouge my eyes out, having to look at this thing!

i guess i dont see what youre saying. last time i checked gc's are $400 and you tell them what rates you want. re sell the hr sports to offset the gcs and youre all in what? 200? just gotta have someone local weld the sleeves on.

where does that turn into $2000?

are we talking about ground control coil overs?

                            400 bucks?

not the ones i have on the coupe, plus labor!

                            these are 1500 bucks...
