I am lowering a street car only and want a comfy/sporty ride yet have the spring stiff enough to prevent wide wheels from killing my fender lips (17x8.5 17x9.5). I have a set of 10mm from drop hats at my disposal. what will give the best low stance? should i look at a 60/50 setup?

I have coilover on my other e30 and i woudl like the ride less harsh than that
I have 17X7.5s et 25 on my late model with Billie sports and IE3's they clear just fine. As posted about they need to be 10-15mm lower in front and I do have a reverse rake. I wish I would have gone with H&R race to replace my worn H&R sports

I have had both, on the same wheel and tire package, and H&R Race fronts were definitely TALLER than IE3s. I was very disappointed to see that after all the comments I had read on here about H&R Race being lower at the front. I cannot comment for the rears, since I didn't get H&R Race rears, but I would have guessed IE3s are lower.

looks liek I will be getting the IE III with my 10mm drop hats in the front. Then I can use spring pads to fine tune the height I want.

I am figuring this is probably a better setup than the lotec 60/50 setup..

Ah, you are in luck, I ran that exact setup, dropped hats, and no spring pads back in '07. Here is a side view, keep in mind it is a late model e30.
