    Ball joints and camber kits

Hey guys, two quick questions on suspension

1: i have to buy all new CA's if ball joints are bad, correct?

2: what is a good rear camber kit for a spirited stree driven DD?

    thanks, i have searched

EDIT: actually another question, so make that three things.

3: are ebay Control arms acceptable? dont feel like paying 80 a peice when i can get both sides with CAB's for 120,
    --m3 offset cab's

--and this w/tie rods and end links!

First of all, why post this in the Members Rides?

It is possible to replace the ball joints, but most people usually replace the whole control arm.
    Get Lemfoerder control arms.
Ireland Engineering and Bimmerworld sell a weld in rear camber kit. Some other companies make eccentric bushings which don't require any welding.

Lemfoerder is OEM. The ebay ones will hold you over for a couple of years...

the weld ons are ten times better and also the bushing ones make squeaking sounds when you drive over bumps. The weld ons are better for the price.

If you need to save $$$, yes, you can replace all of the balljoints in the front control arms...

You can get them here (or a number of other online vendors/sources):

They are manufactured by MOOG (a very well known suspension company that is contracted out to many automotive manufacturers).

The listed price on RM's site for the OUTER BJ's is $14.14 EACH.

The listed price on RM's site for the INNER BJ's is $19.18 EACH.

So, you have to outlay $66.64 (excluding shipping fees) for all of the needed replacement ball joints for both CA's... If you have a way of pressing out the ones in your existing control arms and a way of pressing in the new ones - you're definitely saving some $$$. Even if a local garage/shop can do it for you, I can't see them charging a whole lot for you bringing them the parts and having them do it...

The weld-ons are more preferable, as they offer a better range of adjustment. AKG sells a very nice set of eccentric bushings, though, if you want to go that route.
