    318i (M10) Spring question.

I don't have all the time in the world and a quick search did not help me. The question is, on the M10 powered car are the spring different than say, an ETA? Every time I look for a nice set of springs I find that the 318 does not have nearly as many options as an eta would. Is this due to different rates? or is the physical size of the spring actually different? help is appreciated.

I'm not sure if the springs are different, but when you lower the car you will also need new shocks and struts. The front struts are a pain because they are 48mm unlike every other US e30, which have 51mm housings. If you have a junkyward near you, I would just pull some housings off of a newer e30 and use those. Its also a good time to replace wheel bearings and the upper strut mount if they have significant miles on them.

Other springs will fit just fine (I had e30m3 springs and currently use h&r sports), your car will not lower as much though because it's not as heavy if you don't get m10 specific springs.
