INPUT ON Coilovers-which to buy--K2, D2, Ground Control
INPUT ON Coilovers-which to buy--K2, D2, Ground Control
I have an 88 325 is and I am a noob.. When you get coilovers do you NOT have to use rear springs then?? I am pretty sure yes just checkin.. And which is the best of the above coilovers...
This won't really answer the question here, but it's nuts to run true coil-over on an E30.
I'm Not Right in the Head | Random Rants and other Nonsense1st Order Logic Failure: Association fallacy, this type of fallacy can be expressed as (∃x ∈ S : φ(x)) → (∀x ∈ S : φ(x)), meaning "if there exists any x in the set S so that a property φ is true for x, then for all x in S the property φ must be true".

I think which ones to get is a matter of opinion. We've got a local racer here in spokane who swears by D2's coilovers, but he got his for free. I think that Ground Control's are the most tried and true coilovers for the e30. Lots of people have run them, and they also have the different spring rates you can pick out.
You can run rear coilover setups, but it will take lots of bracing from what I understand to be able to hold the weight on the strut mount since they aren't made to carry the weight. So usually kits like GC's run a spring on an adjustable lower perch.
Well, you'll be getting new springs for the rear, replacing the stocks. But they are separate from the shock.
nthing the GC recommendation though. I love mine. I've got a friend here in Knoxville running them as well. Riding in that car was the reason I bought my e30. The handling was awesome
Also, as far as D2 goes, from what I understand they tend to do cheaper, entry level stuff.
I've driven on an e30 with D2s. They are OK. Definately leaning more towards the daily driven that can be pushed harder suspension.
If I'm not mistaken, they are also progressive springs.
Personally I was not a huge fan of it (but their camber plates do look pretty nice, and it's included with its price), but I would just prefer to make the extra effort and jump to GC's. GREAT customer service if anything goes wrong, and you can pick the suspension that works with YOUR wants.
Vorshlag also sells coilovers for E30's pick your spring rates, get single, double, or triple adjustable shocks, but it's not the cheapest option. They have really good support, and mostly cater to the autocross community.
ive seen lots of pictures and read stories of d2 just bending and snapping under hard stress like big bumps. everyone with 240's and miatas say theyre crap so they cant be good and havent heard of k2?
