Z3 Rack Fitment into subframe question

Hi everyone, I’ve scoured the forums looking for the answer to this question. I have a z3 rack, ends in 611, and I’m installing it into a ‘90 325is. Everything is perfect, but the rack will only bolt into the other holes on the subframe, not the original holes. It’s an airbag wheel so there’s no need to modify the knuckle. The knuckle is new, and I’m unsure why the rack won’t slide into the original holes. The rack slides into the other two and I’m not sure if that going to cause dramatic steering issues. Is this okay? Thoughts?

Did you trim the firewall opening larger as needed?

KIRIEIW Thank you I trimmed the firewall, but it seems the steering knuckle is a smidge too long. There’s no binding, so I’m really confused.
