Every now and then we get a set of wheels without hubcaps in our shop. As finding the right center caps in our area is sometimes pretty challenging task we have been playing with recreation of some classic center caps.
I have already written about this on vwVortex forum, but I want to share results here as we do most of our work for BMW community.
Every now and then our shop receives a set of VW BBS RJ 407 wheels for refurbishment (191 601 025 AA).
Many times center caps are in bad condition or missing and sourcing them has been a real PITA.
I was playing with the idea of creating center caps from scratch. Previously we have been making custom BBS RZ wheel center caps and they came out pretty nice. So I have created CAD drawings of original center caps on my computer.
After several trials and errors right tolerances were finally hit so the center cap is well aligned with the wheel edge. Locking system still needs some work, but we are getting there...
After all 4 dimple plates are produced they will be prepared for painting.
