oK so i was trying to keep it all a secret....i bought 4 sportmax/"xxr" 501s? i believe they are..the 6 spoke with the lip....anyway i knew these wheels finish suck so i decided since i know someone who powder coats and can hook me up i decided fuck it i might as well see what we can do...
so i quickly learned after sandblasting how shitty the finish on the whees really are...its just...one thin layer of paint basically...even the lip.
so i bought from eastwood.com hyper glood black powder and a nice clear coat i think the high gloss clear powder..the plan was to make the centers black and polish the lip more/keep the "polished" lip then clear the entire wheel so i have nice black centers and a polished lip all cleared over to protect the finish....BUT i learned that the "polished" lip on these wheels is well..just paint....i guess thats what you get when you buy 4 wheels new for 375 shipped.
so my question now is since its basically all grey aluminum now should i just powder the entire wheel all black? even the lip? then clear it all...or buy some more powder for the lip and basically go the same route as originally thought...OR powder it all black like the first option but then paint a red time attack style stripe around the entire outside of the wheel (where tire meets lip) and rock that?
what do you think?
also does anyone have a pic of a flat 2dr side view so i can possibly photoshop these wheels onto it to see what it looks like??? thanks
