Can powdercoaters do wheels in 2-tone?

I want to have some wheels powdercoated, with Nogaro centers and standard silver along the outside.

Is that possible? Or will they have to be painted instead of powdercoated?

    Thanks!

I have seen some multi color powder coating before. I would think since there is more involved that the cost will be more as well compared to a single color. But that should be expected.

Here is a link where someone is asking the same and it appears not to be a problem...

Yup, it can be done. Basically you just do it like you would with paint. Spray them all a solid color, bake, then mask off areas, respray and bake again. Once PC is cured, baking it again doesn't do anything, so you can add multiply colors/layers if needed. That's how they are able to put clear over color.

the poweder coater we use can do it. I know he charges something like $85 for each color change. I am not sure how much extra it would be for the masking work.
        But yes totally possible

Doesn't the paint have to stick to bare metal?

You would bead blast the wheel so you have bare metal. Then you can tape off the lips and powder the centers and bake. After that you can then polish the lips and either leave them raw aluminum or clear over them.

It's true that shitty powdercoating guns have problems getting the 2nd coat to stick. I mean the dry powder sticking to the piece before curing, after baking it'll be just as hard as the 1st coat. Pro quality guns can lay down 3-4 coats no problem. I'm a powdercoating newb was just playing around with my buddy's setup and did this:
