    front tire rub!!

im running some type of eibach springs with 17x7.5 rims. fronts are 225/45/17 rears are 215/45/17. my rears rubbed for a second until i bashed the rear quarter panel. i tried the 225s in the rear but then rub something ridiculous. i could raise the car to run the 225s but ill do that later.

my issue is that my fronts are rubbing on hard cornering. is there anything i can do to combat this? they rub on the inner wheel well. what can i do? should i raise the front? should i try to space the fronts out more? help!!

Maybe try a correct tire size and go from there....

Your tires are way too tall. Get proper tires.

225/40 is closest, or 215/40 would probably be better for you because of rubbing issues.

          what offset are your wheels?

215/40/17 is as close to stock OD for 17".

I'm running 17 x 8 ET 25, with wide 215/40/17s and have no rubbing, and my car is pretty low on coilovers.

Although it does feel like the fronts have been heavily rolled.

The bad thing about 17" wheels is there is not a huge selection of tires that fit for our cars. 215/40-17 is the closest. 225/40-17 is a little tall, but would work. Only one or two companies make a 225/40-17 though.

And if the wheels are et40 you would likely need to use 15mm spacers and be in the et25 range along with the 215/40-17 to avoid rubbing. I am running H&R races with 17x8 et20 wheels with 215/40-17 and do see some slight rubbing at full lock on the inner fenderwells. I also do not have rolled fenders and do not see any rubbing in that area whatsoever...

I am running IE3's with 17X7.5 et 25 I had 225/45 on the rear but I rubbed a little and the front had 215/45 so I put the 215's on the back and put 205/40's on the front. perfect

yea i had the 225/45s on the rear and they would rub over bumps or anything of the sort. i put the 215/45s on the rear and 225s on the fronts and now they rub at full lock. i dont wanna scrap the 225s because they are brand new tires.

what would happen if i put spacers on the front while leaving the rear the way it is? i heard it was a bad idea. any ideas on that?

It will look wierd if the difference is more than 10mm from front to back. But should not adversely affect your car's daily driving ability.
