Owners of Ronal/ACT's owners, please step in, have a question

I picked up a set of Ronal LS's/ACT from another board user locally and have a questions about them. Originally, the offset is stamped ET37, but it looks like someone either had a spacers made and looks like they glued it on. The spacer looks about 10mm thick, which would put it at ET27. I didn't notice it until the seller pointed it out to me, he thinks that when it was ACT, that E30 owners were buying them more then VW owners, so Ronal ACT made them with the spacers, rather then making a whole new wheel.

Does anyone know the history behind Ronal? I'm assuming ACT was the style wheel, later changed to LS's?

My question is, has anyone else ever seen Ronal's look like this?

The guy I bought them from was a SUPER nice guy, we talked for a while about E30's, wouldn't think he would screw me over, defintely didn't seem like that.

Here's some pics of the spare wheel he gave me also.

    Sold.......again.

rims are in very good condition as far as I see . From what I know , Ronal and ACT were two different manufacturers or something like that. But be sure , ACT LS are the same as Ronal LS .
Have a good time with them :D

Just got off the phone with the guy I bought them from, again, guy is very nice and we talked it over. He feels the same way I do. I think these were originally ordered for a VW (checked vortex, VW ET is 37), and whomever had them before the guy I bought them from, got the spacers made and fitted them on the car. The guy I got them from was telling me that they fit great on an E30, which is fine with me, but I'm not crazy over running spacers on any vehicle, not good for the wheel bearing, lugs, etc.

Another thing I noticed was that the lip on these aren't a big as the one's on E30's, which is another thing that threw me off. Also, you have to run longer bolts with these to get them to fit. AND, the original centerbore for the hub has marks on them, which looks like someone had these mounted on a car BEFORE the spacers were made.

        Opinions?

        Sold.......again.

Oh ok, I thought ACT and Ronal were the same company, I guess ACT sold the mold to Ronal?

Ronal made several wheels under different names. Sort of like how a new Mini, is made by BMW technically. Its as if in a few years, BMW just started putting the roundel on the new Minis. We all know who made and designed them. Or like all the Acuras and Hondas. One in the same.

They Ronal LS and the ACT wheels are for all other purposes, identical. These may have been made for a VW application. I have a set of the ACT made to fit the e30 m3 in 5x120.

There is nothing wrong with spacers so long as you take the right precautions with the right length lug bolts, or going to studs.

From my discussions with the guys at Ronal in the last few years, ACT was a brand that Ronal made in house. After a while, they consolidated and removed the ACT name, and implemented their main brand, Ronal.

I have a set of ACT's on my car and I'm running a 15mm spacer in the back with studs.

I actually thought that ACT used to be Ronal cool to know that tidbit.

It was a Ronal design (LS) that was popular, so when they were starting another brand (ACT), they moved/shared the design, then brought it back to Ronal. Thats what I recall from my convo with them almost 2 years back.

Hmmm, good to know, so Ronal made ACT's, but later dropped the ACT and started making Ronal LS's? Yeah I know these would work with my car, the guy that had them before me ran them. I've never been crazy about spacers because I think they put an extra load on the wheel bearings and lug bolts due to the centerline of the wheel is outside of the wheel hub. I have the Vorshlag studs on my car also, but I think I can run 8mm spacers max, so these may not even work with my studs.

I had the same exact dealy on my Kerschers. It had like a 15mm spacer tack welded on. Except in the front of the wheel.

My LS's do have a little bit bigger lip than that, and the LS's made e30 specific have an offset of ET25.
