Why in the F is it so hard to find nice-looking 15s in 4x100?

You are ranting for nothing and probably not looking properly. There are tons of non-mesh, good looking, new and used wheels for e30s. With proper hub size. They usually are et25 (while the OEM offset is et30) and come from Mk1 VWs. Look at Ronal's offering.

Comparing cheap parts available for cheap Asian cars with BMW stuff is worthless.

I REALLY like the look of the TR Motorsports wheels. In 15x7 or 15x8 and around $450, they are a nice option as well.
There is also a couple different Team Dynamics wheels and the Lightweight wheel sold by BimmerWorld.

I like the TRM wheels. I may buy a set next year as track/auto-x wheels.

There are a billion 15x7 5x120 wheels which are really cheap because they came stock on e23s, e32s, e28s, e34s, etc and no one wants those.
Yeah, when you put it that way, it maked more sense.

Almost makes a 5-lug conversion worth it...

I never said that I expected to find a set for under $200 (except for something like weaves, which are a 14"wheel that is 20 years old). I come from the perspective of japanese imports (not Honda/Acura) where old 15" OEM alloy Maxima/240 wheels are $80 a set, and where Subaru Legacy/Impreza 15"s are about $150 for all 4.

Clearly, some of the wheels that were made for BMWs have a unique offset, so scarcity increases value, but I just figured that there were enough sets of wheels on the market (new or used) to where the prices would be a little lower than what I am seeing- particularly for something like a stock 14" wheel.

I currently have 2 sets of aftermarket 17" wheels for my subaru- 1 track set (Rotas wearing BFG g-Force T/As) and one winter set (ASAs wearing Blizzaks). The Rotas were $400 and the ASAs were $200. Neither is a great wheel, but the fact that I grabbed 17" wheels with good, low-mileage rubber for those prices had me thinking that there would not be an issue finding 4x100 15" wheels with a 20-30mm offset. I figured that the Honda/VW crowd might have some cast-offs that I could get at a reasonable price.

All I was saying with the original post was that I was surprised at how difficult it is to find the same type of deals on 15" 4x100s with good offset.

    Because 15s are weak.

Welcome to our our world. I was looking for some used 16's then tried to find some new "reasonably" priced ones, I just gave up and found another set of weaves.

I never thought that I would have so much trouble finding a set of used 15"s for under $400-500. I can (and have) found 17"s all day long in that range for my other vehicles. I can't seem to find squat in 15x7 with 4x100, unless I want to spend more $$$ on w&t than I did on the car itself.

Don't get me wrong- I love BBS meshies, but anything other than that is hit or miss to find. Even 14" weaves are tough to find under $200 (but they exist, at least).

I really like some non-mesh designs, but finding them used is a chore.
