Difference between "BBS basketweave" and original BMW basketweave?

Maybe this is just a dumb question, however, figured I'd ask anyway....

What is the difference between a 14" BBS Basketweave and a 14" original BMW basketweave?

Any difference in actual rim, metal used, or center caps?

Is there any difference at all?

Who was the original rim manufacturer contracted by BMW for the "Basketweaves"? Was it BBS or other?

    Thx!

Im guessing the original BMW ones will have the correct lugs/offset for BMW. The BBS basketweaves can be for vw, bmw's, honda's whatever

I'd say just because the BMW weaves are older they have probably come up with new, stronger, lighter metals to use for them now days they are different that way. But like what was said above the BMW ones were just more purpose built for what they were going on.

BMW did use BBS for weaves for quite some time that said BBS on them, then there was another company (Laso???) that took over making them, but center caps still remained BBS.
