16x7.5 et25 max tire size? My 2nd post!

Just picked up my first e30 and a set of 16x7.5 et25 hartge rims came with it.

It is sitting on stock suspension with fresh struts so I want to run the largest tires size on these rims till the struts wearout, then of course drop it and get different tires to match the drop.

I have searched and have some cross leading info so this is why I am asking.

What is the largest tire size you can run on stock springs with 16x7.5 et25?

Thanks for your responces and your time.

largest, as in largest diameter? or widest? if you don't want your speedo to read incorrectly, go with 225/45-16 or 205/50-16, the former obviously being "larger".

      Thanks for the quick reply!

And to clarify largest as in both hight and width.

As for a 225/50/16 I'm guessing would be too big?

      Thanks again

why do you want largest height? 225/50 might "fit", but it is going to make your car look even more like a 4x4 and it will make your speedometer read slow.

Hum ok so 225/45/16 seems to be the way to go....just seems lowpro for stock springs...

          All good tho.

Now it's time to find some good rubber!

          Any recomendations?

How about you start worrying about a drop?

i think you need to do more research on tire sizing and the effects it has on a car. just because you lower a car doesn't mean you need to decrease the overall diameter of your tires. just because you have a stock suspension doesn't mean you need to increase the diameter to fill the wheel well or something.

when your car was new, it came with 195/65-14 tires, which happens to be almost exactly the same diameter as 205/60-14, 205/55-15, 225/50-15, 205/50-16, 225/45-16, etc. varying from that diameter will cause your speedometer to read incorrectly, and will change your ride height.

if you want to know what 205/50-16 or 225/45-16 looks like with a stock suspension, look at this:

notice that larger wheels (16's for example) accentuate the gap between the tire and fender, making your car look even taller than it already is.

i just noticed this. you are going to be on a stock suspension for a really long time if you wait for the struts to fail before lowering your car.

Thanks for the info and picture.

As for the struts I see me driving on them for at least 2yr.

Your struts/shocks were worn out at 60k miles. Replace them and run lower springs.

Thanks for another pic! As for the struts the previos owner had them replace 10k ago and they ride great.

And I do plan on droping it but in about 2yrs!
