You guys running 16x9 wheels, what tires?

I'm looking at a set of 16x9 ET15 all around Borbet wheels. Wondering two things>
What tires are adequate for this setup? (fenders are rolled from prev. owner, car is dropped about 40mm)
What effect does a wheel that wide have on steering? I have power steering. Can anyone compare the positives and negatives compared to lets say 7.5in wheels?

      Type A's.

Oh and my car is similar to the one in the second pic, I'd blast the wheel centers black and leave the beautiful lip shiny :)

If you're running the same width tire (205mm) you're not going to notice the difference in steering effort between running 7.5" wide wheels and 9" wide wheels. The scrub radius is the more important parameter. Higher offset wheels will be easier to turn (and will be easier on wheel bearings, but not anything you'd notice from the driver's seat). Of course if you put 275/40 slicks on those 9" wide wheels you're going to notice an increased steering feel over a 205 street tire. But even then, it's not going to make it hard to turn the wheel, just less effortless. :)

Ok and if I were to strip the old paint on the centers, polish them and then spray them with transparent black paint, would I get a gunmetal look? Has anyone tried that?
Flat or metallic black might look a bit boring.

215/40 or 205/45 are the popular choices.

                225/40 would be nice to.

                  How about 215/45?
With a nice fender roll, ofcourse.

                      I would run a 215/40.

Word. I'm typically one for square sidewalls myself.

i have some 245/35-16's waiting to go on :D

too bad they don't make 245/40-16's to keep the proper diameter.

T1Rs? I don't think they make any other street tire in 245/35/16.

yeah. currently i'm running 225/40 t1rs on my 16x8 because the tires came on another set of wheels i purchased a couple years ago that were 16x7. they're almost worn out now and i got all 4 245's for $320 shipped (ebay), so i figured i'd give them a shot even though their diameter is even (a little) smaller than the 225/40's. i don't know a whole lot about tires, but i don't have any complaints about the t1rs. they grip well, handle the rain well, and they've lasted like 20-25k miles or so. and the tread looks cool, which is the most important thing.
