I've 10x17" BBS RS's on the back of my cabrio, ET is 14, 6.5" barrell. There aren't lots of room between the rim and fuel lines on the right hand side, and also the spring upper plate is getting close (though the rim won't sit on that height if you've short shocks).

Adding an extra 0,5" to my barrell wouldn't clear the body, but with different middle-piece it would. Though then i couldn't use as wide lips as now..

There's more to it. E30 M3 hubs have a different geometry (track) than 4x100 ones. They are close to iX.

197s are 17x9.5 +13, according to google. So as my little wheel dude in training just posted, you'd end up with 17x10 +20. That setup just barely clears on a 4x100 RWD E30, and will clear with around 5-6mm to spare with M3 hubs.

Fender clearance will be a huge issue unless you will have flares of some sort.

17x10 ET ~20 shouldn't have a problem, that's the common offset for guys that run staggered 17x8.5" and 17x10"s.

Look up ZiMMie's car on Keskins.

DO you have early or late arches? You'll need 225/35 and seriously stiff springs to those wheels off. Or destroy your fenders.

    ^ yeah thanks for that

the thing i am worried about is if the 1/2" wider barrel will hit the rear shocks or not, i never bolted up my 5 lug so i am unaware of the clearance issues in the rear.

Backspacing and offset are directly correlated, they are two different ways to determine the same thing (where the wheel sits in relation to the hub.)

I was just telling you that whatever the current offset of the wheel is, if you add a barrel that's .5" wider, you are going to move the ET higher by 6.35mm.

Add a .5" wider lip and you move the offset lower by 6.35mm.

OK, so I looked up the 197, it's 17x9.5" ET 13, adding a .5" wider barrel ends up at 17x10" ET 19.35, or the offset most people are looking for when running that size.

Are you saying leane the same lips on the car and run a 1/2" wider barrel? It helps to be specific when you are asking for help.

I don't know the spec on the 197 and I'm not going to look it up, but by adding a 1/2" wider barrel, you will make the offset 6.35mm higher.

So for example the wheel would go from ET 10 to ET 16.35.

Don't act like an ass when you ask a vague question and people can't help out because they need more info.

In order for them to help you, we need the measurements of the bbs center. From where the center bolts to the hub, to where the center bolts to the inner barrel. Your best bet is to break out your ruler.

No one gives a shit about your wheel size/style/choice that you insist on keeping secret. If your smart enough to ask for help, but too dumb to listen and your wheels don't fit, your only hurting yourself.

like i said, the faces im running are the same size are RS 197 which have 6.5" barrel. all im asking is if i can fit an extra 0.5" in between there or not.
