    225/45-16 not much choice

So i was looking at tires and the size i need are 225/45-16. But damn there really is a crappy selection for options for that size. I dont have a whole lot of money to spend at the moment, what do you guys suggest. Only thing im really seeing are toyo t1r's anyone tried them? Opinions?

I had some yokohama es100s in that size, and I didn't really like them.

Your choices in 205/50-16 are so much better, it's just not funny. You'll lose far more in the crap tires than you will from the width.

Toyo T1R's are what I'm on right now. I've been very impressed with them.

Toyo R1Rs are in 225/45/16 if you're looking for a super sticky street tire.

Thanks guys. I may get t1r's leaning towards saving up and getting them. Just need to save up to buy them. My dad use to put sumitomo htr z's and at 60 a pop they where cheap, but they are discontinued lol

                          Thanks again for everyones opinion

BTDT on he Kumho XS. Never again. They are the absolute worst tire that I have ever driven in the wet. And keep in mind that my wet driving experience includes bald RA-1s, hohos, and other semislicks. The XS are the only tires that have ever actually made me nervous. In the dry, they have fantastic mid corner traction, but they are kind of sloppy on transitions.

The T1Rs are a decent tire. Perfectly adequate everywhere, cheap, nothing to complain about, but nothing to write home about either.

If I were looking for maximum performance from the available tires, I'd probably go with the 205/50-16 Star Specs.

...it's too bad the Yokohama AD08s aren't available in the correct size. They rock.
