    Anyone running a 235?

I just got some new wheels, and was wondering if anyone is running a 235/40/17 tire all around. The wheels is 17x7.5 et 20. I think I can get it to work, but just wondering if anyone else has run it or know if I can run it. Thanks

on the late bumper you need the 17*8.5 with the bigger offset. 25 i think. And you will have to roll the hell out of the fenders.
on the front you will have to roll the hell out of the lips with the 17*7.5s.

I'm actually running 245-45-16 on my 9X16 rears. The width was never really the problem. It was the diameter of the tire due to the "45" creating a taller tire. I therefore had to due some more than expected rear fender modding.

There is a guy, C///M I think, with 235/40-17s all around on his late model 4 door.

What size wheels are you using?
How's the clearance up front near the strut housing?

My car is an early model.

235/40's on a 17x7.5et20 is a perfectly viable option. You'll want to roll your inner fender lips very well and be running a stiff suspension.

Also, offset CA bushings is a must or else your tire will rub the rear of your wheel well during sharp turns. Modifying that area for clearance is difficult. With the increased caster, *if you still get slight rubbing in the front of your wheel well at lock*, the fender liner is rather easy to adjust/manipulate so that it won't rub.

In that case, nice job on the bumper swap.

clearance is ~5mm on the inside to the strut. Fender clearance was fine with stock upper strut bearings but the added camber with the camber plates provides a little bit more room as well.
My offset is irrelevant though as I have e36/318ti suspension

I was hoping to not have to roll my fenders yet. I was trying to wait to do that until, I had more money to do it right. But I think I may try and go with a slightly taller tire, something like a 225/45/17 There seems to alot of tires in that size. Plus I can get Falken Azenis Sports  than and shouldn't have to roll my fenders.

Get the new RT-615's, in stock now in 215/40/17. If they run wide like the old Azenis, they should be perfect for your needs. This is what I'm going with, after breaking 245/35/17 numbers down to mm measurements. I realized the 215 width Azenis really won't give up much to more pedestrian 235 tires, anyways. Especially with only 7.5" wide wheels (same as I have).

Yeah I know, they work out to be about an inch taller.

ive got the e36 5 lug suspension with 17x8-et38 wheels and 235/40 tires. I had to get very aggressive with the fender roll. I even had to add another spring pad in the rear. It ended up that the inner fender well needed some mallet messaging.....and well....ive got a few dimples on the outside fender now too. [/img]
