What size tire for a 9 inch rear?

What size tires are you guys with 9" rears running. I don't mind a little stretch but Ary recommended 215/40 and that seems way too small. My Porsche has 9x17 rears and I run 255/40 on them!

Depending on what brand tire you run will depend on what size to go with. Like I have sumitomos on my 9's and got a 215/40. The tire shop fucked up one of my tires and could only get a nexen to replace it. Same size but it fit like a 205/50.
Also the size will depend on your et of the wheel and the suspension your running.

Depends how much tire you want. a 245 or 255 fits on a 9" rim great. Fitting that much tire on an e30 can take some work though.

215/40 is a popular size for people to stretch on a 9" wheel to get that stretched euro look.
Any width in between those sizes will work. Just depends how much stretch vs rubber you want.

You never mentioned the rim diameter, but I assume you are talking about a 16" rim.
225/50-16 is WAY too tall. 225/45-16 is close to the stock diameter, but still a little taller. 225/40-16 is shorter than stock.

Here is my car with 225/45-16:

I run 215's on my 17's and 205's on my 15's. Both are 9inch wide. I also run 295 cantilever sidewall slick on my other 15's. All are safe.
