Yea, and while a properly fill and drilled wheel should be more than safe enough for average use, i dont think you can say its exactly the same. Like led said, not all wheels can be done either, and some wheels are stronger (forged or cast) than others.
OP, any particular wheel you are considering?

i cant say for sure, but adapters are safe, and you can use it with that wheel. you cant really fill and drill that wheel so thers not really a comparsion.
fwiw, i would run adapters or fill n drills, and know many who have either or.
I'm currently running adapters, 2 weeks ago just did an 1100 mile roadtrip on them too.

They wouldn't fit without an adapter or spacer, ET 47 would be rubbing on the strut tower. ET20 - 25 is the norm on our cars.1985 M10b18. 70maybewhpoffury. Over engineered S50b30 murica BBQ swap in progress.
