    wheels, offset what?

what does offset mean. i have heard that the lower the offset the more the wheel sticks ot of the arch, so am i right in saying the lower the offset the deeper the dish?
What are the offset boundaries for an e30 then? e.g et13- et30. (no idea)
i have seen some wheels that are 9x15 et -6, 8.5 x 15 et01. Would i have problems fitting these. are they too wide or would it work?
what is the widest you can go without archwork, as i really want 9" wide at back or at least 8"

i know there is about 10 questions there but would love the help.

All other factors being equal, yeah.

Totally depends on the wheel width and tire size, plus the year of the car, suspension setup, and how much you're willing to roll the fenders. Even knowing all that it is still a guessing game by a bit.

Offset wayyy too low. To fit the 15x9" wheels you're looking at around ET10, and using something like 205/45/15 tires or something stupid to make them fit. The tire would be massively stretched, but I think you already knew that. The 8.5" wheels could be around 6mm higher numerically offset, for obvious reasons (once you read that Tirerack link and understand what offset means).

The 9" is possible, with heavy fender rolling and small tires. The 8" could hold much more useful tires though, but I'm guessing all-out performance may not be your ultimate goal here.

    Any other questions, ask away.

ET15 9" with 215/40/16 will work with some rolling.

ET15 is not the right offset for a 9" wide wheel

                but this thread is old!!!

Yes it is, he was asking about the rear.

But on the flip side, I claimed that ET25 won't work. It will.

                  I've sharpened a little. :D
