Would you race an 'i' on 'ix' wheels?

There are better places to put my money right now than shiny new whee;s, like a driving school. However I may have the opportunity to grab a set of 15" ix wheels.

I would only get them as a stopgap until the car and her driver are in a suitable condition for expensive wheels. It would also serve to open me up to far more rubber options, as sport oriented 14" tires are growing fewer by the year.

I know the ix wheels have a different offset, and require spacers. The question is if these wheels with spacers should only be used for cruising, or if they would withstand track use.

    Thanks for any advice! :)

I'd rather race an i on ix wheels than not race at all.

Well, I DO have 14" basket weaves. I just know that tirerack had 6 options for rubber 2 years ago, and last year only 3. Last year they also didn't have the rubber I wanted in 14".
But the options for 15" are near limitless.

Alighty, I'll try and get my hands on the ix basket weaves and a good set of spacers.

          Thanks for the advice!

You don't need to go really expensive, especially for a track wheel.

How much can you get these ix wheels for? And how much for spacers?

TRM C1s are $89 a piece brand spanking new from Tire Rack, and don't need the spacers.

If the ix wheels are anything over $250, I'd spend the little extra money and get the TRMs along with tires from Tire rack. The amount you save on mounting/balancing and no need for spacers more than makes it worth it for brand new wheels.

We ran cheapo plastic spacers at one race and it lasted 18 hours of racing. It certainly wasn't my first choice though.

Love the D Force wheels I have, super light and plenty of rubber in that size.
