need help with tire size on 16x8

I just bought a new set of wheels and these tire companies are having a hard time putting them on my bone stock 89 325is coupe. It's not lowered or anything. Do any of you guys have a tire recommendation? They said 225/30/16 to 225/40/16 but none of them were in stock. Regardless, they were very unsure. If any of you have any insight that would be great!! closest to stock rolling diameter in 225 -- 225/45R16

for 205s -- 205/50R16

for 215s -- 215/45R16

if your wheels have an offset (less than et25) which sets them out closer to the fender, i would stick with 215s or narrower.

Probably because putting 16s on an e30 with a stock suspension is going to look stupid as hell no matter what size tires you put on it.

Lower the car before bolting those wheels on, it will not look good if you don't.

thats not true, it will look fine. if they are a nice wheel, they will make a difference over stock or crappy wheels. heres is a picture of my old car circa 2003 with 16" borbets and not lowered. looked nice this way!

ive got 14" basketweaves currently. The reason they were having trouble was because the tires were TOO big to fit, if the car was any lower I would have had NO luck whatsoever. What you said was completely conflicting no offense.

i had 16x8 et 20, they sat flush in the front and with maybe a 3-5mm spacer in the back would have done the same. i ran a 205/50/r16 all around with no problems, also i was on stock suspention. although i agree that if you are on stock suspention, it will look funny. no matter the tire size. but nothing that some coilovers wont fix...

he is suggesting that the bigger the wheel, the lower the car needs to be to pull it off. so no, he is saying smaller.
