    Poke/offset question

Noobish question. I am familliar with offsets, spacers and adapters etc but I am not familliar with the E30 chassis and what different combos work with the fenders/inner clearance.

Basically I have a set of BBS RM's 15x8 and 15x9 with et of 12.65 and 1.65. I had to modify the fenders on my VW heavily to make them work with as low as I wanted to be with that car. Once I pick up an E30 I will be running the same wheels but with much wider rubber, right now I am stretching a 195 on both.

What it comes down to is how much poke am I looking at with offsets that low. This is all assuming I have either a cup kit or coilovers so I wont be at stock ride height.

Thanks for any info I will continue to look for pics of low offset wheels!

Your front will be fine and seeing how you like this style. You might even want to add a spacer to fully fill it in.
With my 16x8's up front wrapped with a 205/45, I narrowed it down to an offset of et-3 and was fully satisfied when the camber was dialed in.

Now for your rear, you might just be dead on once you massage your fenders.
    Here's an example of a 15x9 et0:

I did see his car already but thanks, that is a bit too much poke in the front on stock fenders but from what I read he is running a spacer of 10mm bring his actual offset to -10.

I am asking because I am trying to finalize my widths and tire sizes. I may end up with a 15x9 front et 1.65 and a 15x9.5 rear with an et of -5.35 Granted I will have to run wider fenders but its going to be more of a fun backroads/track car so I want the widest rubber I can squeeze under there. Has anyone tried to stuff a 245 or 255 under the rear of an E30?

Yea he's at 15x9 -10 up front but remember that his car isn't even lowered at all up there... So while a 15x9 final et0 up front can be a bit too much, depending what tire of course as well, it isn't totally retarded.
And seeing how you want to run a bigger tire now, it changes things

Right, my plan all along is to run a larger tire than what I have now, depending on how well E30's accept wider rubber. I have no issue cutting the fenders and attatching rivited on fender flairs either. I was just curious how the stock fenders took wide wheels/tires.

But then again I may sell my wheels along with my Jetta so it would be back to starting over picking new wheels instead of the RM's

Thanks for the help so far!

as stated, 8et12 and 9et2 will fit nicely, i'd run 205/50s and you won't have any issues with a roll.

if you want to run wider rubber, you can fit more than you'd ever need on an e30 on 8" wide wheels, no real need to go wider.

doesn't make any sense to go wider and make your life way harder by making them poke even more, when you can get as much rubber as you'll need on what you've already got.
