    16x9/10 +6 - Am i just being crazy?

    G'day all,

In browsing for some wheels i've come across some used 16s for a good price. I want aggressive fitment and something different, and these definately fit the bill on both accounts.

    Having said that, they are:
    16x9 +6
    16x10 +6

Yup, pretty dang crazy offets and widths for an E30! now i know some of you on here are running 9 +0 up front so i know it can be made to work. But a 10 +6 up back i dont know?

This car is a slow project, but is meant to be my daily haha however i don't think i would run these wheels daily.
Suspension will be coilovers (BC or GC).

Anyone with fitment as aggressive as this who could comment would be great. i need to know if i can pull the trigger in the next day or so.

    cheers all,
    Ant

It can always be done. It is just a matter of the right stuff being done to make it fit. I would just suggest going ahead and aggressively pulling the fenders on all fours when you roll them. You will need some camber adjustment also if you want to dial in more negative camber to tuck the tires inside the fenders. That way you aren't poking massively outside the fenders. The right tire size will come into the equation also. You'll want to run some stretch that's for sure. I've seen 215/40/16 front and 225/40/16 rear on E30's with 16x9/10. If you are a little more brave a 215/40/16 can be done on the rear also, but I'd personally go with the 225/40/16 because the stretch will then look similar front and rear. It will also be an easier stretch, a little better for a daily driver, and most shops (at least in Socal) would be able to mount those tires easily.

I think your fenders are going to be so pulled/mangled that you will need to run that aggressive all the time.

I think more stretch on the tyres a needed. 225 on a 10" wheel is not enough stretch. Something like a 205/40/16. The guys putting 16X10 DR steelies on the back are running 195/40/16. But then again they're running a lower et0 offset than you will be doing. FunfGun is running a 205/50/15 on his 15X9 wheels. They poke out a fair bit at the front so some negative camber is definitely needed

Thanks all for the input on this.

M-Tech - i have the late model chassis, an 89.

87e30 - this is a worry also. i hate those people that get wheels that just poke a little, then they flare out their arches so they end up sunken in by 10mm anyway. why even bother going aggressive in the first place!

Humjet - yeah i have been trying to locate some pics of the people with the wide Steelies. I am not scared of stretch ,especially if i won't daily these wheels. I think you're right...i found a german site with people running some really aggressive offsets on rolled guards and the key seemed to be crazy stretch!

I am tempted to bite the bullet and push the boundaries a bit...

              You Won't

              15x10 +0 in the front,
              15x12 +10 in the rear.
              You won't.

                195 on a 10"?

He's also running 205s that are nearly square shouldered on an 8".

There was a guy named Alex in the DC chapter that ran 16x9 square but his were et 15's. You are looking at some flairs to cover the poke and prevent the debris from getting all down the side of your car.

Think roster tails off your tires.

Believe me I've seen it done, yes its excessive stretch but that's what I heard is needed to fit low offset 10" wheels
Also also if your talking about funfgan's wheel fitment then they're a 15X9 et0 with a meaty sort of stretch, that's why they seem square shouldered

it can be done but you'll have to stretch. a 225-40 would fit but good luck finding a decent tire in that size. you need to roll & pull. I've ran 17x10 et22 245-40's on late model at arches rolled & slightly pulled.

                        Your not crazy at all. Another tire size suggestion: 9" 205 40's, 10" 215 40'S or 35's.

Know you must roll your fenders, obv. I think that setup would look great.
