I'm running 5mm on stock bolts and have had no problems, so I assume you'd be fine...

You will want at least 6.5turns when tightening your bolts, if not then get a stud conversion...see my sig if you are interested :)

Start by shoving the lug bolt through the wheel, add spacer and measure. Figure about 1 bolt diameter, so about 12mm penetration. Don't forget that the threads on the hub don't come to the edge, so you have to take that into account too.

Like KaliBoi said, 6 full turns in is pretty safe. Too deep and you trash you parking brake though...

Ive done this when I had no other choice. Fuckin sucked hearing that noise going home just KNOWING that Im messing stuff up.

OP, Ive always done what Luke said above. Make sure that after the lug goes through the wheel AND spacer, that you have enough meat to bite inside the hub.

I've always found these numbers interesting:

              Thread 1 - 34% of the load
              Thread 2 - 23% of the load
              Thread 3 - 16% of the load
              Thread 4 - 11% of the load
              Thread 5 - 9% of the load
              Thread 6 - 7% of the load

Basically, the first 3 threads of a bolt take 73% of the load put on the bolt. After 6 threads, there really is no more point in threading a bolt in any longer. So as long as there is 9-10mm of lug bolt threaded into the hub, you should be fine (1.5 mm per thread x 6 = 9).
