e38 redrill is gonna kill me?

Generally fill and drill is preferred to inserts but inserts can be acceptable (re style 5s). But that is the worst insert job i've ever seen. They drilled all the way through instead of just creating a recess. Why they would do that is beyond me. Now its more prone to pull the insert through the minimal material that is left over. Also they deformed the center bore. Thats going to make it a bitch to get the hubcentric spacer in. Your going to probably have to press or hammer it in place and you'll risk dislodging one of the inserts. -
I don't think that was one of the best jobs, that shop has shelled out. With that said, no I would not put those on my personal car.If you drive like a grandma then they might be ok, but I would never drive on something half-assed like that.
It will all depend on how much stress you are going to put them through...
Today I saw a miata (lighter car than e30) brake a Kaiser(sp?) race wheel on a race tire...the whole center section broke...all 4 fat spokes and the wheel came off the car flying....
Wheels/tires are ALL your car is riding on, big safety concern in my book.
Look up more redrill jobs on here, make copies of the work and take picture proof, of what you need to have done to be a satisfied customer. Unless they have some sort of sign, warning you of the their butchery, do not accept a "no we can't help you or reimburse your money back."
Good luck man, hope everything works out for you tomorrow.Leave a comment:

Haha idk what to do. I mean I get that its not pretty. But I can't imagine they would do something thats going to kill their costumers. Or put them in a legally liable situation. So I get that some hate it, but my concern is strictly safety. And I am NOT tracking this car. This is my DD/cruiser/baby so I want it safe hahaLeave a comment:

How would I go about getting my money back and reimbursement? No business is gonna want to shell out that money. And since it's been a day since I picked them up and they aren't open on sunday I dont know what to do. I was too busy with work/school to really get these up or whatnot. And like I said I just didn't know enough when I picked them up. Guhahsdgkjh
so you bought it from a shop? or did you got it redrill there?Leave a comment:

I'm generally all right with welded/filled re-drills, but I just don't trust steel inserts. All I can think of is the inserts slowly working their way loose and then suddenly, your wheel is no longer attached to your car.Leave a comment:
