Ok. I am just saying, before you worry about running wheels that wide and heavy you need to be making the power.

Also as always a good 255 on a 8" wheel is gonna provide mroe grip than a shitty 275 on a 10" wheel.

Furthermore if you plan on running this as a track only - you can do things like cut fenders, and rivet on some flares, so that you can go wide without stupid camber and run slicks.

If this is for a street car I suggest RS3's in a reasonable size. All the while maintaining that on a stock car, I doubt hyou need to go higher than 8 maybe 9 inches in a 16.

I was planning on running flairs. My other thought, tell me if this makes sense, was to run a more street able tire(I love star specs) in a wider size, then to run a skinner, much more expensive, quicker wearing tire.

            Thanks in advance!
Stop thinking everyone is trying to be a stance posterboy. I'm in the exact same boat as OP. Currently at 300whp looking to move up to 500 and will be running flares. I'd like to get 16 wheels but in know that makes it real tough on tire selection. There are some nice 275/45/16 toyo proxes though. If i get the 17" wheels i'll get some 255/40 federal 595 RS-Rs. Only $110 a piece and tons of grip.

Thank you! And would you say looking for 17's would be a better bet for tires? I'm running the largest tires in 15's I could find right now, and was going to move up to 16's for better selection, but if it isn't that great either...

For the 16 inch there are a few decent tires available. Probably the stand out tire would be the kumho xs in a 265/45/16 at $180 per tire. Most other good tires in a 16 will set you back 200+ a tire. In the 17" you have a larger selection in the $150 range. Not to mention a larger selection in wheels. There are a lot of 17" wheels in 4x108. A simple re-drill with inserts and your golden. These could be a $600 total investment. http://www.ebay.com/itm/17-9-10-Gunm...5#ht_915wt_967

To bad the fronts are so narrow. And they are within driving distance. I'd get them for my other e30 but i would have to sell some wheels firsts. I just bought new wheels and tires for it 3 months ago and have put 0 miles on them. lol

Anybody used 949 racing wheels? Made for Miata's but they're cheap wheels, and very well made. I was looking at 15x9 and 15x10, both +36 offset but I'd be using 20mm spacers all around.

Thanks, I'll pm him! I just wanted to be sure 15x9 +16 or 15x10 +5 would clear the front struts.

Niether would, you would need et8 for the 9's and et-4 for the 10's if you were to run them up front. That's just to clear the wheels, if you ran a chunky tire you'd need even less offset.
