    Refinishing my Type-A's

I started stripping the paint off my wheels to get them powder coated. It turns out there was about 30 coats of paint from PO(s). I went to town today on two of the wheels with aircraft paint remover. I got pretty much all the paint off but now I'm left with old fading chrome.

Will I be able to get these powder coated?
What color should go with? (My car is DS)

Sure you can get them powdercoated. After you sand them smooth that is.
They have to be smooth and clean just as if you were going to paint them.

As far as color, you can play it safe and go bright silver. Or snazz it up with a bright contrasting color. I would not go black or dark.

You will need to acid dip those, the ones I have came with a gold plated center and chrome lips. Super pimp for the 80s but not so much for nowadays. The painter ended up using bullfrog, to try and keep the lips untouched and the paint to stick but I keep getting peeling on the centers due the gold plating still in there.

            Good luck.

^^ yeah I was curious about acid dipping. I'm worried about the copper undercoating affecting the way the paint lays.

If you get them painted professionally, they will know what to do.

im in the same boat. ive got some A's , chrome , few cracks you can see if you get up close , looks like PO painted the inside and just left the star and lips chrome. Not sure it just clean them or repaint. or go the whole 100 yards and get them dipped painted polished.. but that gets pricey
