What to treat polished lips with to keep the shine???

I know there are clear coats and powder coat, but with all the bolts holding my rs's together I feel that a clear coat will just chip around the bolts and will corrode underneath. My cousin was telling me about some sort of chemical treatment to use on polished aluminum that keeps the shine...
Do any of you know of anything? What do all you BBS guys use??

    Thanks!

Mother's Aluminum Polish? Polish that will also protect.

Wheel wax or just keep polishing.

Just polish em good ( i use a powerball with polish that is used on the sides of those massive dump trucks) then just use zymol over everything.

They make a clear powdercoat specifically for wheels. Resist chipping and brake dust corrosion better then standard clear. I ordered mine from powder by the pound.

You got to understand that polished lips are high maintenance. The best way to keep it from getting dusted so fast is the brake shield!

But to get the best shine, I use some aluminam wheel cleaner, cold water, spray, rub with microfiber mitt, wash again!!

Then you can get mother's polish, or never dull, or something like that, and get it nice and protected again.

My only problem is that I DD the car on the rs's (yes i know, i know :tsk:) and dont want to have to polish them constantly. I'm going to try the sharkhide and see how that works.

If you DD the car with the polished rims you WILL have to polish quite often to really get the shine and appearance to stay pristine. After a drive I spray Fast wax spray detailer on the outer lips. Then wipe down with micro fiber to get all the topical brake dust and contaminants lifted. Then I just wipe on Mothers Aluminum polish with another Microfiber detail cloth cause if there are any impurities in the first cloth it can scratch or transfer those right back to the rim lips. Then just buff the mothers out with a 3rd microfiber towel. Then weekly I wheel wax as well. Really does a great job of maintaining the shine and finish.

I know this is an old thread but wanted to update it. I did end up using the sharkhide and it works great. I daily drove on them for a little while and now they are on my dads 318ic that mainly sits, but they do get dirty, and still have a great shine! I would highly recommend sharkhide.

with mothers, it holds the shine for a while. nothing more than regular cleaning when washing the car. Id say light polish every 4-6mos

Shark hide works by well. There is also Shineseal that works for this also. I don't DD my car, but I built my rims over seasons ago and have never repolished.
