    Wide rims/tire sizes/rolling fenders/what will fit?

OK so I'm on a search over the winter for some hot wheels, something I really can't do without kind of thing.

I've found a few nice sets in 8" width or 9" width

what woul dbe the ideal offsets? et22 or so for the 8?

also, can I fit a 9" wide wheel, with wider tires? 225 or 245 maybe? I don't mind rolling my fenders, car needs some paintwork done anyway so its ok if the paint cracks. but i DON'T like the euro look, so would only get 8" or 9" wide rims if I could have tires that properly fit.

    Generally speaking.

    8" wheel = ET22
    8.5" wheel = ET16
    9" wheel = ET10

Mathematically, those are off by a couple mm's. It's mostly in the fact that when you go with wheels as wide as 9", you're not wrapping them in 265's or anything like that. The wheel is for sure the most protruding element. I'll also add that those will FOR SURE mount, you can also get away with slightly more inboard offsets. But those are safe, and will leave less than 5mm of space on the strut side.

If you want wide wheels with properly fitting tires, you're likely looking at 17's. The only tires wider than 225 and still within reasonable E30 diameters are 17" sizes such as 245/35/17. 245/45/16's are possible, but they're massive.

i was thinking about keskin kt-1s in a 17, they come in 8.6" width with i believe 18-35mm offsets

I've never even seen these wheels in 17 though, only 16

        DUDE, do it.
I freakin love those wheels. You could run 235/40 or 245/35(<- not a whole lot of options in this size).

If the offset is et18, I would say that its a good bet you'll have to run small spacers up front.

              damn that's hot

ok so now those in 17" with 8.5" width. Can I run something like a 245/35/17 without rubbing? I'm down to roll my fenders, will probably do that soon. Just don't want rubbing issues.

I've got 17x7.5 20mm kopis with 235/40/17 tires. The fenders are rolled alittle bit and I have no problems with rubbing.

I run 245/40R17 in the back on a 17x8.5 ET41 wheel. Keep in mind I have MZ3 rear trailing arms...

Anyways I would rather have 245/35 to keep close to original rolling diameter but there are not many tires in that size. Most are WAY overpriced HO HUM tires, or very expensive good tires.

My outside sidewalls barely rub the inside of the horizontal fender lip in the back. I've got ~750miles on this setup and the sidewall is almost "debadged" kinda cool actually. Its silky smooth, not torn or abraded looking.

                  Anyways.

i'm also skeptical about going with 17s. i dont really want that increased rotational mass. Granted the stroker gives me enough power, but what about the brakes?

i'm doing this because I don't really want to deal with 5 lug, I've got 2 other cars and a bike that i have to allot my funding towards. already have to spend ~2k on wheels and tires, can't spend another $1500 on brakes or 5 lug.

This car will never see a track, that's what my z is for. i just want a nice street car. this sees auto x from time to time, but thats it. i figure the brakes should still be all right with some 17s, i've got nice pads and whatnot.

I noticed absolutely no difference going from my 17's back onto lightweight 14's, anyone that does is imagining it.

17x8.5" ET18 wheels with 245/35/17 tires will not need spacers. Do it.
