    8s or 9s with a 225 tyre?

    hi there guys.

ive been looking around. seeing whats worked for people. with wheels.

ive seen that 225's are being used no worries. but what i cant seem to get is a clear pick of the fit on a low e30. theres heaps of stupidly stanced rides. stretched tyres and all of that rubbish.
i am not into stretched tyres. i want the foot print on the ground. ive been looking at a set of 16x8's et20 for my e30. apparently they will fit easy no worries with 225's.
but my issue is i want the car to look nice. so the tyres need to sit close the fenders. on the side, NOT outside the fenders. so i guess almost flush? NOT HELLAFLUSH rubbish. i want to drive the car.

ive also looked into 9s with et15. but not sure if thats much of a better fitment.
i do like them cos they are wider. but could run into rubbing issues in the front at full lock perhaps?

whats been done? pics with the wheel and gaurd, with sizes and offsets and size of spacers used (if used) would be helpfull.

and yes i have had a search. it was difficult to gauge much from it. as most pics are side on and dont show the relation to the fender and tyre. or are like i said before with stupid stretched tyres and too much offset.

    thanks, leigh

well, you can see from my signature photo that it is 225/45/16 on 16x7.5J, ET30. Still could do another 10-15mm easily without rolling fenders.

this is so textbook, especially on this site.

      16x8 e23 , 225/45-

      search that see what happens.

        Heres a quick shot of my car with a 225/45R16 on a Borbet A 16x9 +15

Running IE stg 3 springs, both rear spring pads, it doesnt scrub round corners but does over big drops in the road. If your car isnt running stiff springs then 225/45 wont work on a 16x9 +15

go 16x9 rear and 16x8 front. Otherwise you'll either have the fronts sticking out too far or the rears sunken in too much.

the 16x8 et20s make more sense if you want to put wide tires on. 16x9 is for stretchy crap. if you REALLY want wide tires, you have to go to 17" for the 235/40. (or someone has 235s or some such tire on 15")
