how hard are bbs's to get?

    hey there guys.

as im moving along with my build slowly but surely

im thinking more and more about bbs rs wheels for it.

im dead set on 16x9s rear and 8s front.

but i just cant find a local set. when i say local. i mean within the country at all.
maybe cos NZ is small compaired to most other places people are holding on to whatever is available.

how often do a nice set of 2 or 3 piece bbs rs's come up for you guys? im happy to have them redrilled, new barrels fitted, have them restored (sandplasted, painted ect)

im not yet ready to fork out for them. but how often do them come along? so i can keep a eye out.

    cheers. leigh

so i think ill bite the bullet once the visa has had a rest and get some imported.

also if you are willing to rebuild and so on as you've said, keep an eye on Japanese auctions (yahoo japan auctions). There are usually a fair few on there, if you know the specs you need for your rebuild just search on there for BBS then look for the widths you want. The good thing with rebuilding them is you generally only need 'weak' offset sizes to get the good barrel size. Sometimes there are pairs on there as well so they go cheaper than sets. They mostly seem to be 5x120 on there but also some 4x114.3. If you can score some 4x114.3 with solid hub then you can just have them re-drilled with offset holes safely :)

I use Jesse Streeter for things off YAJ - dartsun75@gmail.com is his contact.

Also, you might have easier access to old school Japanese 3-piece wheels from Hayashi, Enkei or SSR. Might be worth a look.

The scary thing is, $3k is your rebuild cost for all materials and labour.

Then you have to add your initial purchase cost. Hence trying to find something cheap! I found some 15s locally that i picked up for $200, but i just didnt want to spend $3k rebuilding 15s which i thought i wouldn't be happy with due to the small diameter :P

yea 15s are nice for a while. but i think id end up wanting to go with 16s but then again smaller wheels do help to make the cars look rather staunch

I guess you're right. By the time I get my flat caps & logos I should be just shy of 3k.

Wheels 800, lips 680 (2@16x2 2@16x2.5), powder 300, bolts 50 (only needed half a set), Tires 500, 50 on polishes and then 10+ hours polishing nuts and putting them together. Oh forgot adapters for 400ish. FML about 3 gs

buttt i sold my 16x9.5 Ares i invested in 2 years ago for about 800. Sold my borbet type ts with tires for 1400. Sold 3 sets up spacers i had for 300. So ya see i worked my way up this level lol
