16x9 et 15 in the rear?

    Hey folks....

First I just want to say I did search for a few days but can't really find a clear answer. I'm trying to go 16x9 et 15 with 215/40/16 tires in the rear. I have an 88 coupe. What's needed to make the wheels fit? I'm ok with rolling the fenders but I can't really pull my fenders because I have ix fender flares on my car...would really like the 16x9s on there for the extra inch of lip but if it won't work I guess I'll go with the 16x8 all the way around.

Also I'm lowered on eibach pro springs if that makes any difference. As always thanks for the help!

Just a roll. Don't need to pull the fenders with that offset and tire.

That's exactly what's on the rears on the blue car in my sig. Rear fenders are like half rolled and it's all good. Those size tires blow though, don't do it. It looks retarded unless you're an inch off the ground.

I totally agree with this, saw them on a mates car so I went 225/45R16, but I'm on 650lb rear springs and fully rolled fenders.... I reckon 215/45R16 should be alright with rolled fenders....

Much better size. Just roll your fenders properly. The stretch is fine, but the profile is just too low. See my sig...not even tucking tire up front and i can lean my iPhone sideways on the front lip.

With eibach springs I'd say no, they are just far too soft and will give you too much travel... my fenders are fully rolled and I get minor scrub over big bumps, but I'm already tucking a decent amount of tire....

You could possibly look at a 225/40 tire but I don't know what is available in that size.

I don't get why you posted this. Yes his wheel/tire choice will fit with minimal work, but that's a bad tire choice for a few reasons, starting with the fact that the overall diameter is fairly far from stock.

3.7% smaller than a 195/65R14.... Also some early model cars came with 195/60R14 stock, which would make it 0.5% smaller than stock...

Id prefer to not get massive scrub and run a smaller tire.... Although I would never run 16x9s without being low as they look a bit silly on eibach spring ride height...
