Teaser for all you wheel whores

    Bought these:

BUT, in my opinion 17x8.5 and 17x10 were just a bit over the top. Not to mention I'm not terribly fond of extreme tire stretch. So the guys at vrwheels were kind enough to swap the 2.5 and 2" lips for 1.5" all around, making them 17x8 and 17x9.

AND the custom paint job the original owner went with turned out to be defective, so I went ahead and got them powder coated silver.

Reassembling everything now. A lot of work, but the end result will be well worth it.

Will hopefully have the tires mounted back up tomorrow. They'll eventually be going on this car (replacing its RS 001s)

The paint was defective? How so? I the guy that does that painting he'd be curious. Takes a lot of pride in his work.

I've been trying to get the original owner to call him and talk to him about it, because it was a $300 paint job that I essentially had to re-do.

Basically it didn't adhere very well and would just flake right off with as little as a dull finger nail. The powder coater I took it to was in disbelief in how bad it was...I didn't even mention it to him, so I know it isn't just me.

I'm sure the guy is a stand up guy and does top notch paint work...every now and again things go wrong I suppose. Still, it would be nice to get something back considering I had to go through the pain and expense of refinishing them again. Any chance you could talk to him for me? The original wheel owner who hired him isn't getting back to me...

i dunno, it may be just me but seeing deep dish wheels getting their lips REDUCED and running less stretch is kind of like a chick with nice big boobs getting a reduction to wear comfier sports bras...somehow it just doesn't seem right!

But then if the reduction makes them fit and suit better and you can rock them more often, then so be it i suppose..! :)

It like they were so big the nipples were misshapen and constantly showing themselves...and were causing back problems to boot. I love cleavage, but like to keep it around the C level.

Trust me it will look awesome when done

Tires mounted up, no air leaking! Silicon seems to be holding up just fine. Can't wait to get these mounted on the m-tech. Hopefully they fit! If not, I'll just have to raise up the coilovers ever so slightly.

As an update, I want to make sure everyone knows F&S Automotive is not responsible for the defective finish. It wasn't their paint job, but rather the lack of sufficient prep work on part of the original seller of these. He stripped them himself without bead or glass blasting, going against the recommendation of Theo at F&S. Unfortunately I was the victim of the seller's corner cutting. I have a paypal dispute open, and am hoping he mans up.

                Nice looking wheels, good score.

But I have to say, I don't care if I never see another set of BBS RSs again.

I hear ya...always had an obsession for them myself. And I have the Racing Dynamics on the black car, so got my diversity there ;)

Not sure if that's a joke about the undersized tires, but I'll take it ;)

The top picture was the before picture correct? Then you swapped for smaller lips creating the last pic? I love the first pic with the poke

Why don't we see a completed teaser mounted on the car yet?
