    Weird 70mph vibration from wheels

    Hey guys,
Not sure if this is a common problem but I just got a set of redrilled to 4x100 BBS RS redone and Im noticing that if I drive over 70mph, I get a strange vibration or wobble from what seems like the front wheels. It follows a very regular pattern too like....vrrmmmvwubwubwubw vrrrrmmmmmwubwubwub vrrrrmmmmmmmwubwuwb

Im trying to narrow down the culprits, but Im not sure if its the wheels themselves that are either out of true, or not properly balanced...or if its the wheel hub??? I spun the passenger side front wheel and it doesnt look like it spins in a perfect circle, it looks like it wobbles just a bit...

    Any suggestions?

Remove said offending wheel and put on a balance machine see if it checks for run out.

Who did the redrill? Sounds like you already know that the wheel is either not hub centric to the redrill or they are warped.

Well heres the thing with these cursed wheels. I took them to a shop that redid the drilled holes and welded in a metal hubcentric ring to mount on the hub, as far as I know the place is legit. So everything lines up perfectly...would this point to the wheel being warped as the problem? Is it possible at all that it could be the wheel hubs? The only reason I mention this is because when I was threading the lug bolts into the hub without the wheel mounted, I noticed that they didnt seem to thread perfectly in the middle (I can see that the bolt threads in slightly crooked, but still all the way in). The wheels had been run at one point without hubcentric rings...could this have damaged the hubs leading to the problem?

I'll take em back to the shop and have them balanced again to see if they check out. If they are warped, they can be repaired, correct?
      Thanks for your help!

Check the hub by throwing on a known good bottle cap that would alleviate that.

Snap a quick photo of it. How big of a hub were they? Better yet what wheels are they.

Something quick you can do is to swap the fronts and rears. If the vibration changes to the rear, its the wheels. If not then it may be something else. Sometimes changing from OEM offset to something like RSs can magnify an existing problem with the front end. Different tires can as well

A little update.... swapped the front tires for some stock 14" mesh wheels and the ride improved quite a bit, vibration is pretty much gone. Before that I just swapped the pass. side wheel out and there was a slight improvement but it was still there. Gonna test out having just the drivers side with the stock wheel next to single out which side might be causing the problem.

Ok, so I took the car out for a test drive and it seems that with both stock 14 in wheels the vibration is much improved and with either drivers side or passenger side BBS RS mounted I still get some vibration although it is not as severe as with both BBS RS mounted. So, the way I see it is...

                  1. Both of the front wheels may be warped
                  2. Both of the hubs may be warped but the stock wheels with taller sidewall is masking it (?)

So my plan now is to get both front wheels checked out again. Is there anything Im missing? Could it be that there is something going on with the suspension that Im not thinking of?

Got wheels back from the shop after having them "trued". Looks like they were out of round - so far, vibrations are pretty much gone :)

Thanks so much everyone for your input and suggestions to help me getting these fixed.

i also had similar issues, but my culprit was incorrect size hub rings.

****Revisiting this thread, as the wobbles came back!!! ...I did notice 2 wheel weights on the ground in my garage so maybe that is causing it. Ill have them rebalanced, but just in case....can someone recommend a super professional legit place to get wheels measured for run out and for getting them fixed? I question the shop I went to....
