Widest Wheels on a E30 vert?

Whats the widest wheels i can run on a early model vert. Willing to put up to 20mm spacers if needed.

Or better, what is the best width Wheel to run.

Looking at some 16X?" diamond racing steelies. Was thinking 8-10" for width.

fit 17X9.5" wheels on a friends E30 years ago- the offset was really nice, no huge amount of rolling the wheel wells, but we did need to trim a bit of the trailing arm to fit them. they were CR7 wheels if I remember correctly. Never seen anything larger without a lot of massaging of the wells.

I have 16X9 et25 with 10mm spacers in the rear and want thicker spacers (like 20 maybe 25mm depending on how much I drop it). The front is also 16x9 et25 but with 15mm spacers and the fitment is pretty decent.

I've got some 22mm H&R Adapter style spacers that I was thinking of getting rid of if you want pm me.

1 have 16x9 with 0et in rear and I could easily go to -10et.

Are vert different from coupe/sedan ?

If not, I'm running 16x9 and 16x10 on my coupe.
