    need tire advice

guys, the eta needs a new set of sneakers. i am looking at the falcon 912's but after reading revues i am up in the air on them. they are almost split right down the middle. some say their the best thing since sliced bread, lol. others say they suck. good revues say there great in rain, so so in snow and fantastic on dry road. the bad ones say there good on dry road, suck in rain and snow and tread life sucks to the point they only get about 25,000 on a 65,000 mile tire. any advice would help. other brands??? i'm looking to stay under 100 a piece, good handling, good in rain, fair in snow, quiet with long tread life. i know, i want it all. help please.

Well what size rim. I have a bunch of good suggestions that only come in certain sizes that will fit our cars. Do you need an all season? I have had the 912's on a 14" wheel they were so so at best just mediocre. Problem is there is a very limited selection in 14" sizes. My favorite street tire (sticky summer/autox tires are a separate conversation) so far has been the continental extreme contact dw (summer) and DWS (all season) they come in just over $100 each.

Runners up would be the dunlop direzzas and hankook will both be better performers with similar wear.

Hope that helps. What are your wheel and suspension specs?

I ran the Falken 912s, and thought they were decent for what they were.

Don't expect race slick grip out of 14" all seasons, though. You need bigger wheels to have any sort of real performance.

912's are the best tire in their price range hands down.

I've owned a few sets over the years, my S10 has a set on it now and they've been great.

I totally agree for an all season in that price range they cant be beat, they are hideous though.

I agree with Matt if you are keeping 14's and looking at decent tread wear the 912's are the best choice. I think discount tire also has exclusive rights to 512's which are slightly more performance oriented all seasons and come in a 205 vs a 195 which is nice.

The 912 falken would be a good tire. Works for me.

would the 205 sized 512 fit my bottle caps w/o any problems? don't know much about tires here but was also wondering about the 512 only having a 40,000 mile warenty while the 912 has a 65,000 mile warenty. is that due to the 512 being softer for more traction therefor faster treadware?
