    Am I going crazy??

    Hello again gents.

I have a 1987 325is. Would there be any reason bottlecaps would not fit?

I went to put on my spare (which is a BMW bottlecap stock rim) and it would not go over my rear hub. As if the center bore of the wheel was smaller than it should be.

Am I doing something wrong here??

Did the "is" models have different (larger) center bores than other models?

Are your hubs rusted to shit? The only difference I've ever heard of is 5lug and ix, and you would likely know if you had either. Even then, I'm 90% sure the iX hub's are the same in diameter, just stick out further than rwd e30's

Ya. Not 5 lug or ix. But since i was putting on a spare (which usually implies that it is an emergency or you are in a hurry/not prepared) I did not take too much time to look if they were bent or flared out in any way. I just repeatedly put my wheel up to the hub and was like "why the eff is this not sitting against the hub flange?"

Luckily my bud had a extra wheel lying around so I'm limping along.

But I'm interested in getting 4 stock bottlecaps for my car and now I'm nervous.

Well a stock wheel for an 87' iS would be the 14inch basket weaves.

Take a picture of your hub and post it. Something is very odd here...

Is the brake rotor not installed?

Hmm. If it is that strange then I'm assuming it is probably bent or got hit at some point giving it a strange lip.

I don't have the ability to take it off right now and check which would probably answer all of my questions. I just thought maybe you guys knew something I didn't or the bore was smaller on bottlecaps than basketweaves.

I'll investigate and take the wheel off when I have the opportunity.

I've had it where it is DIFFICULT (not impossible) to remove/re-install wheels because the hub was corroded or just really dirty. So that's my guess
