Question before I fill and drill

I recently purchased a set of E38 Style 5 et23 wheels. I was originally planning on purchasing 18mm adapters all around however, I would prefer now to fill and drill the wheels. The question is will I need spacers to nicely fit these wheels on my '89 convertible since I will no longer go with the adapter route? Lastly I'm planning on wrapping these with 195/40-16.
    Thanks

I dont have any pictures of these wheels without adapters but here is a fitment example with 18mm front and 20mm rear 4-5 lug adapters. 204/45/16 tires. fenders are not rolled and it slightly rubs on the rear if i turn hard.

I think I should be just fine with 18mm all around specially with 195s not a drastic stretch but I defenitely like that look. I just don't like the fact of riding on adapters hence the question. I don't mind wasting the money on fill and redrill but don't want to spend extra on spacers to have look up to standards so in this case I guess adapters kill two birds with one stone.

Redrill fronts with 3mm spacers and caliper grinding. Adapters out back.
